Biographical Sketch
Lisa Bullard is the author of over 100 books for children, including picture books, nonfiction titles, and the middle grade mystery Turn Left at the Cow. She is also the author of Get Started in Writing for Children, a how-to guide for adult writers. It draws on Lisa’s longtime background as a writer and her sixteen-plus years’ experience as a publishing professional.
Her awards and honors include an International Reading Association / Children’s Book Council “Children’s Choice Award,” a National Parenting Publications “Children’s Resources Silver Award,” a “Storytelling World Award” honor title, two of Learning magazine’s “Teacher’s Choice Awards,” a listing on Science Books & Films’ “Best Books” list for her nonfiction books for young readers, and a listing on Booklist’s “Top 10 Financial Series for Youth.” Turn Left at the Cow was nominated for Young Readers Awards in Connecticut, Florida, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
Lisa also does a variety of other things connected to her love for books, including serving as a writing teacher for adults and children and working as a freelance editor and book marketing consultant. She lives just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota.
